New Year

It is a new year 2011. Time for plans and good intentions....

I am hoping to lose a few inches round the waist. We will see how it goes. Deadline is mid February.

I realised that I did not blog much after the 25th of December. Well I got ill and did not feel like doing much.
It got busy coming back to Georgia and all - and I was still ill. I think I am over it now.
I am also in the process of selling my Flat in Chelmsford. There are many forms to fill out...

On the way back from North Carolina we dropped by Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. It was a nice little time. After all that snow it was good to have a nice sunny time at the beach (like a few days later..).
We got on the beach and walked a little way and then got something to eat.

Those 16c sand scoops came in handy!!

He Loves it!

Fish and Chips!

It made the Journey back to GA seem longer, but it was good to see Myrtle Beach. It certainly had a commercial Gatlinburg. TN sort of feel to it - but it seemed bigger. It would be nice to stay there for longer..
It was interesting how it had a character very similar to some UK sea side resorts... (fish ans chips - arcades - bars - piers etc...).

We got home just past 11pm ready to bring in the new year. I got some of my pathetic Walmart fireworks out and set some off. To make it slightly more interesting I set some smaller fireworks off in the fireplace. One was the size of my thumb nail - but it flashed on and off like a strobe, much to the amazement of Solomon.
We watched the ball drop in NY and the peach drop in ATL (on the TV).
Mariah  Carey sung 'Auld lang syne' just after 12 O'Clock supposedly as a treat for everyone. It was not live and it was almost bearable for a the first bit - then turned into a disco remix. Most unacceptable!

In NY there were people in a party mood and getting drunk, dancing and celebrating and so on (as usual).
There was so much jubilation for the new year 2011 - yet what do they know? Do they know what 2011 will bring forth? Will it bring prosperity and well-being? Will the job situation get better? Or will it be the year of the greatest depression the world has ever known?

Perhaps it would be better to give thanks we made it through 2010 and accept 2011 in the providence of God, trusting that he will supply our needs. And if not, that we would have the patience and faith to make it through our testing times. God often blesses us more than we deserve. Let us give thanks!

  1. I was wondering when you would post next... And now I have your blog link on my toolbar, so I have been clicking on it everyday. Nice pics of Myrtle Beach. Glad you all got to go.
